SPASH Wins WIAA State Boys Cross Country Title

The Stevens Point Area Senior High boys cross country team won its third consecutive WIAA Division 1 state championship on Saturday, Nov. 2 at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. The state title was the 14th in program history for the Panthers.

SPASH became the first school since Milwaukee Bay View in 1945 to win three consecutive WIAA boys Division 1 state cross country championships. 

The Panthers, coached by Donn Behnke and Kevin Hopp, finished with 77 points to outdistance runner-up Milwaukee Marquette which tallied 129 points. Members of the Panthers running at the state meet were Ethan Olds, Cooper Erickson, Graham Ballard, John Jazdzewski, Garrett Strong, Andrew Dziak and Donald Voetberg.
